At this time, we have put in 93 boreholes (water-wells) in probably 30 villages, we have supported the development of over 1200 small family farms and have built two medical clinics. September 17, 2024Voyage of the Alaska Union with Mr. Whitekeys, musician, author, entertainer....
Mr. Whitekeys or "Keys" will share his book with us as he takes us on an Alaskan journey through Adventure, Danger, Scurvy and Romance. Eight Greenhorns for Chicago set out to Strike it rich in Alaska in 1898. It was the largest Gold Rush expedition ever launched and they had no ideas what they were in for. Mr. Whitekeys reveals a true tale of Alaska Gold Rush History that has never been told. Lavishly illustrated with 100 of Charles Harris's photos (toted a 40 lb. camera with him during the entire odyssey), the book relies on century-old diaries, letters, manuscript and newspaper accounts that tell the story in the words of the men who were there on the Koyukuk in 1898. Mr. Whitekeys is most known for his performances of the Whale Fat Follies at his Fly By Night Clubs. His Club was a mecca for SPAM, Booze, Rhythm and Blues for 25 years (Alaskan vaudeville and satire). His writings have appeared in Anchorage Daily News columns, Alaska Bizarre, the Alaska Almanac, Alaska Magazine column and weekly commentary on Anchorage's KTUU-TV. Sit back and enjoy this journey.
